What do you get when you cross a longtime love of Disney’s The Little Mermaid with a seriously talented, about-to-be-married designer? You get these awesome, nautical and mermaid-themed save the date invites by Angela Navarra, who created these darling invites for her wedding by the sea.

I am loving all of the little details in these fun save the date invites, from the sweet little “hello” tugboat to the “fish bubble” containing the guest’s address to all of the cute fish and crustaceans swimming in the paper sea. Add some super swirly, hand drawn lettering and a return address that’s being carried along the undersea current, and you have a unique and memorable invite turned keepsake for the lucky guests who received these cuties in their mailboxes.

Angela shares about this labor of love:

I wanted to create something that was self-contained and displayed movement, all in paper form. I gave myself a tall order to fill but, since this was for my own wedding, I had to do it!

I love fold and mail stationery, which inspired this concept, and created custom typography and illustrations, which I had a blast doing. I made sure that, when a guest opened their invite, there would be a new portion revealed under each flap that would line up with what they previously saw. It started off as an 8.5 x 4.5 envelope that opened up to a 13 x 11 invite. Finding a paper that would work for this concept was difficult, but Eugene and Molly from Rolling Press were super helpful and provided invaluable advice that made this invite shine.

Wedding Invitation Color Trend : Mint Green

It’s fresh, it’s soft, and it’s one of the hottest color trends in stationery. Mint green pairs perfectly with neutrals like bold black, charcoal gray, and warm brown in so many different invitation styles. The versatile hue can be combined with elegant script and ornate ornament for an ultra upscale look, but it’s equally at home when paired with sleek, mid-century style typography and pattern. Check out these lovely (and minty) invitations to see just how cool, both literally and figuratively, mint green can be.

Today’s crush comes to us from Cotton Paperie, who created these beautiful letterpress save the dates for Nick and Rebecca’s September wedding. Fairy Tale Map Save the Dates

Sweet Fairy Tale Map Save the Date

This undeniably sweet map save the date brings to mind princes and castles and happily ever afters. The charmingly unique design was created by Krista McCormick for her upcoming June wedding, and here’s what the bride-to-be has to say about the oh so romantic project:

I designed this “fairy tale” map save the date for my upcoming rustic wedding in June. I thought a map would be charming and helpful to our guests, showing all the important landmarks of the big day. My fiancé, Josh, and I grew up in the same little square-mile, tree-city town (Wenonah, New Jersey), which is the starting point on the map. I thought the business-sized, wedding website card would be easier for guests to carry along to the computer, and I just had to use the cute little envelopes!

We love the outdoors and are little kids at heart, so I think we are depicted well in our save the dates. I cut all 100 cards by hand! It took a lot of patience, but it was well worth it in the end.

Be sure to check out more of Krista’s invitation design work at her site, A Piece of Kake.

Ah, swoon. I’m head over heels for this amazing watercolor save the date by Spencer Studio. The combination of angular, overlapping watercolor shapes gives the design such great depth and texture, and the colors are absolutely fantastic! – found via seesaw

Sweet Mason Jar + Fireflies Wedding Invitations

Mason Jar Save the Date

Mason jars, fireflies, oodles of sweet hand-lettering, and a wonderful gray and yellow color palette – heck yeah, I’ve got a crush on this wedding suite! Brandon and Jacob’s letterpress wedding suite caught my eye as soon as I spotted it over on FPO, and I’m still buzzing about it (pun intended).

From the sweet, hand-lettered mason jar save the dates to the whimsical, coordinating pattern work and hand-lettered and illustrated invitations (the light bulb-tailed firefly is too cute for words, and the buzzy little bee is pretty darn adorable, too), there’s a lot to love about these invites. And the fact that Brandon and Jacob’s reception seems to have taken place in a big cupcake is just the proverbial cherry on top.

Pink + Brown Chipboard Save the Dates

Pink + Brown Chipboard Save the Dates

My heart skipped a beat as soon as these lovelies appeared in my feed reader last week, and I don’t think that I have to tell you why. But I will, anyway. These completely amazing letterpress save the date cards were designed by Mae Mae Paperie for Megan, a bride who had a clear vision of what she wanted, and what she wanted was divine.

One side of the double-sided design features lyrics from “Georgia On My Mind”, with details for the Georgia wedding on the reverse, letterpress printed on “dangerously thick chipboard” in pink and brown ink. Details like an antlered heart emblem, gorgeous patterned border detail, pink edge painting (love!), and touches of metallic gold foil on the envelopes (double love!) make this a save the date utterly unforgettable.

Unique Wine Stain + Cork Save the Dates

Unique Wine Stain + Cork Save the Dates

“It’s more than a crush.” While the sentiment at the top of these awesome save the dates may not have been intended as an expression of my feelings, it’s certainly fitting because I think that I may be in love with them. I mean, c’mon, how could I not fall in love with something so amazing?

The ladies at Three Little Words designed this wonderfully unique save the date for Emily (one half of the Three Little Words crew) and her fiancee, Rocky’s, upcoming Napa winery wedding, and the result is a little bit rustic, a little bit whimsical, and totally genius!

The save the date “cards” are actually cork shelf liner cut to size and screen printed in white ink. Talk about great texture! And Lady Rene always adds a bit of sweet romance, perfect for such a unique save the date.

Wine Stain Seal Project

One of my favorite details has to be the wine-stained “seals” on the envelopes, which were each created by hand. Any crafty project that involves a glass of wine has got to be fun, right?
