There’s just something about a little shimmer and shine that brings magic to a wedding invitation design, and it was crush at first sight when I spotted these gorgeous new gold and silver foil stamped wedding invitations from Hello! Lucky. The new invite suites, which range in style from Art Deco-inspired to sweet and starry, feature oodles of wonderful foil stamped goodness:

Bella Figura 2013 Wedding Invitation Collection

I’m a little bit giddy because it’s that time of year again, time for the introduction of oodles and oodles of gorgeous new wedding invitation designs and collections. I’m always excited to see what new and established trends will be represented and, well, I just love pretty invitations and look forward to seeing what both my favorite and new-to-me stationers are creating.

Bella Figura recently launched their new wedding collection, and I’ve been lost among the beautiful designs for the past few days. Styles range from the upscale, Jazz Age-inspired Fitzgerald by Ellie Snow to the oh so romantic Mae by Ian Koenig and the ultra cool Modern Dot by Erin Jang (shown above). Gorgeous, typographic designs and pretty pattern are well represented in the collection, which also features a nice dose of shimmery, foil stamped goodness.

National Stationery Show 2012 : Smock + Bella Figura

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been a week since I returned from every paper lover’s wonderland, the National Stationery Show. Visions of lovely paper goods still dance in my head, and this week I’ll be sharing just a few of the wedding invitation collections that completely caught my eye at the show.

First up are Smock and Bella Figura, sister companies who really know how to create a stunning wedding invitation suite. Their booth was filled with gorgeous, foil-stamped and letterpressed suites in styles that range in style from classic to mid-century inspired to ultra modern.

2012 Wedding Invitation Trends : Texture, Texture, Texture

The feel of an intricate, laser or die cut detail; the striking appearance of lustrous, foil stamped typography; the organic appeal of a wash of watercolor – it’s all about texture, and I am loving it!

Wedding invitation designers are finding all kinds of innovative ways to give their designs additional depth and interest, and the great news is that, whether you’re in the market for custom, hand-painted, watercolor letterpress invites a digitally printed, watercolor wedding invitation suite, there’s sure to be a invitation design out there that will rock your world.

Watercolor

Love them or hate them, watercolors were white hot in 2011, and I think that watercolor elements will continue to be a massive trend in both invitations and stationery in 2012. This multifaceted element can add an ethereal touch to a straightforward, typographic design, or it can set the tone for the whole suite. Watercolors can be splashy or soft, dainty or bold, and they can work equally well as small, complimentary details or as the base for entire pieces.

Painterly style, on the whole, seems to be making a comeback as designers are taking time away from the computer and breaking out their art supplies to create designs that have a more organic, hand created feel. Be on the lookout for more gouache and acrylic elements in the future, too.

Foil Stamping

A little bit of luster goes a long way, and even a touch of foil stamping can make the difference between an invitation that’s “meh” and one that’s “wowsa”. I’m not just talking silver, gold, and bronze (thought I love them all dearly), either. Fuchsia, brilliant blue, teal – companies like Bella Figura, who recently unveiled a foil stamping filled wedding invitation collection, offer a range of swoon-worthy, metallic hues.

Laser and Die Cutting

Laser and die cut details are making an appearance in a growing number of clean, modern wedding invitation designs, and this is most definitely a good thing. Both have always played well with traditional/ornate designs, and it’s great to see these techniques getting more play in unexpected, non-traditional ways. Ornate, laser cut belly bands and wraps will always be breathtaking, but a sleek, laser cut serif face can be just as magnificent.

Wow, is the holiday break over already? I hope that you enjoyed the season and were able to take some nice, relaxing time with family and friends!

Before I signed off for the holidays over on Paper Crave, I shared some of the awesome designs from Bella Figura’s amazing 2012 wedding invitation collection, and I would be remiss in my duties as an invitation fiend if I didn’t share some of the beautiful designs from the new collection over here, too. Alice in Wonderland Bridal Shower Invitations

Ooh, I am so crushing on these wonderfully elegant and playful custom bridal shower invitations, designed by Hip Ink for a fabulous, Alice in Wonderland-themed celebration. The bride wanted an Alice in Wonderland invitation with a more modern, opulent edge, with quotes from the book featured throughout the suite, and Hip Ink created this dazzling suite to fulfill her every request.

The digitally printed invitations feature a luscious, jewel-toned color palette of fuchsia, turquoise, purple, gold, and black that’s most definitely eye-catching, as are the gold foil-stamped accents – “Answer Me”, “Read Me” (with a gorgeous keyhole graphic), and “Follow Me” – on the reverse of each of the main pieces in the suite. Elegant typography plays perfectly with rabbit, key, and teapots silhouettes that bring to mind the book in a playful, yet understated way.

Gorgeous Gold Foil-Stamped Calligraphy Invitations

It was crush at first sight when I spotted this completely amazing, gold foil-stamped wedding invitation suite over on Pinterest recently. This stunning invitation suite was designed by Kate Allen (the bride) and features amazing calligraphy by Plurabelle, as well as plenty of perfect little details – gold foil-stamped confetti patterns throughout the suite; a slick envelope liner featuring teal, coral, gold metallic, and navy stripes; a very cool, typographic save the date; a custom directions map; foil-stamped lips (sex-ay!); and probably the most awesome dinner & dancing/reception cards that I’ll ever see (mini envelope + gold foil-stamped arrow = love!). I’ll be swooning for weeks over this incredible suite.
