2017 Holiday Card Trends : Blue Christmas Cards

Being blue isn’t necessarily a bad thing, especially when blue looks like these beautiful blue Christmas cards. Rich teal blue, navy blue, and cobalt blue are some of the hottest colors in 2017 holiday card trends, and these gorgeous hues are on display in a big way in this collection, which I’m calling “Blue Christmas”.

Blue is a wonderful color choice for Christmas and holiday cards, as it signifies a cold and frosty time of the year (for us in the Northern Hemisphere, at least), a time when deep, dark, starry skies come early in the day. These deep, navy blue, dark teal, and cobalt tones are often paired with bright whites and gold or silver foil (or glitter foil), colors that can represent snow, which brings a delicate sparkle to everything it touches.

Blue Christmas cards are also an excellent choice for non-Christmas holidays and, depending on the sentiment, can work wonderfully for Hanukkah or even New Year.

Among these beauties, you’ll see some of the other hot trends in holiday cards this year, including painterly botanicals, dynamic hand lettering, watercolor textures, and foil stamping, all of which continue to be big trends in the larger world of paper goods and stationery.

If you’re looking for lovely blue Christmas holiday photo cards with a color palette that stands out from the classic red & green, then you’ll definitely want to have a gander at these designs, which represent some of the best in holiday photo card design this season.

Sun & Surf Letterpress Wedding Invites

Sun & Surf Letterpress Wedding Invites

It was crush at first sight when I spotted Renee & Daniel’s beachy letterpress wedding invites, designed and printed by Ruby’s Tuesday Boutique Letterpress, over on FPO recently. The cool blue suite features fantastic, modern typography and a unique, surf-themed monogram that gives the invitation such a fresh and playful feel. A wave motif carries the beach/ocean theme through to each piece, and a custom printed keepsake handkerchief map (printed by Spoonflower and so adorable!) is the cherry on top of this unforgettable wedding suite.

Unique Tiffany Blue Keepsake Wedding Invitations

Tiffanys Inspired Wedding Invitations

It’s no wonder that Tiffany Blue is one of the most inspirational colors around for all things wedding. The beautiful shade of teal conjures feelings of sophistication and luxury, along with images of the unforgettable Holly Golightly nibbling on a pastry in her little black dress. Romantic. Classic. Perfect inspiration for a wedding invitation. And this Tiffany-inspired invitation by UAE/Dubai-based invitation design studio, Natoof, is just as unforgettable as the iconic character.

The Tiffany Blue-inspired wedding required an invite which complimented the wedding theme, and Natoof transformed the trademark Tiffany gift box into a gorgeous, magnetic enclosure invitation box, tied with pure white ribbon and embellished with silver keys that look like the gorgeous key pendants at Tiffany’s.

Inside, an incredible laser cut acrylic wedding invitation awaits the swoons of recipients, who will most certainly be tucking this keepsake away for future reference.

Playfully Boyish Letterpress Baby Announcements

Graphic designer, Kathryn Holeman, undoubtedly had a bunch of fun designing these custom baby announcements for the newest little addition to her family. Kathryn pulled out all the stops for this special occasion – letterpress printing, envelope liners, custom address labels, the works!

These charmingly boyish birth announcements, printed on 140# smooth, bright white acid free paper in midnight blue and light cyan, feature a heroic menagerie of boy favorites that spell out G-E-O-R-G-E. Included in the masculine lineup are superheroes, wizards, cowboys, soccer players, pirates, and knights.

Mid-Century Style Blue + Gray Save the Dates

Blue Gray Letterpress Save the Dates

Now this is a seriously cool save the date! Anna Wingard and Sei Rey Ho of Us & Them created these fantastic, two-color letterpress save the dates, printed by Mama’s Sauce, for their own upcoming wedding, and I’m really digging the mid-century style elements and awesome illustrations, not to mention the great blue and gray color palette.

I also think it’s fantastic that Anna and Sei Rey chose sunflower yellow envelopes for their save the dates. The yellow really packs a punch and provides the perfect contrast for the electric shade of blue in the save the date cards. Unexpected, and unforgettable! – found via French Paper
