Anne + Geran’s Starry Autumn Letterpress Wedding Invitations

Starry Autumn Letterpress Wedding Invitations

Today’s invitation crush, designed by the bride, designer Anne Kostecki, instantly evokes the feeling of a crisp, autumn night and features washes of watercolor, as well as silver, hand painted stars and rustic script that perfectly echoes the organic angles of the leafless, autumn trees that appear in pieces throughout the suite.

Anne shares:

Geran and I are both native Missourians with a love for the season of autumn, which also happens to be what my last name means in German. We wanted to have a rustic, nature-inspired theme for our wedding and started by thinking of our favorite colors (his is brown, mine is blue). We decided to incorporate autumn trees and a starry night sky as design elements. The trees would represent his down-to-earth, practical personality; and the stars would represent my slightly out there, creative personality. The palette consisted of a dark mahogany brown, cobalt blue, ivory, and touches of silver.

I am a watercolor painter and wanted to incorporate that somehow into my letterpress suite, so I spoke with Jessica at Gilah Press + Design, and she came up with the idea of offset printing a watercolor wash on the invitations first. I also wanted a silver metallic finish to the stars, so I blind embossed the dots for the stars and hand painted them afterward with silver ink. I love having complete creative control, so I decided to do all of the invitation calligraphy and the envelope calligraphy myself.

Woodgrain + Calligraphy Letterpress Wedding Invitations

Woodgrain Calligraphy Letterpress Wedding Invitations

I’ve been a big fan of OneCanoeTwo’s wonderfully whimsical letterpress paper goodies for a while now, and I was absolutely delighted to see these lovely, custom letterpress wedding invitations that Beth of OneCanoeTwo designed for her cousin, Andrew, and his bride, Katie. I have a big soft spot for all things woodgrain, and the combination with gorgeous, dark purple and chartreuse inks, hand-drawn apples and banners, and lovely, custom calligraphy makes for a wonderfully unique wedding invitation that’s just the thing for an autumn celebration (and completely crush-worthy, too!).

After a freak, early season snowstorm, we’re finally starting to settle into fall here in the New England, and these beautiful autumn leaves letterpress wedding invitations by Parrott Design Studio are the perfect invitation crush for this time of the year. The “Autumn in New England” inspired suite features rich, mustard yellow ink and lovely vintage leaf illustrations that frame all of the wedding details. Kraft envelopes, which the couple stamped with a custom designed return address rubber stamp, add a touch of rustic charm to this evocative, seasonal suite.

Autumn Wedding Invitations

This gorgeous letterpress wedding suite by Dingbat Press is absolutely perfect for a fall celebration, and I’m totally crushing on the unexpected color palette of peacock blue and rust orange, which is vibrant, yet autumnal at the same time. Jennifer and Cristina’s letterpress wedding suite also included lovely details (I mean, besides the beautiful design itself), like escort cards paired with a sweet, die cut pouch.

These sweet fall harvest wedding invitations by Thoughtful Day bring to mind autumn leaves, warm apple cider, and all of the things that are so special about fall. The hand drawn illustrations remind me of mid-century children’s books, and the the typography enhances the whimsical feel of these lovely invitations, which came packaged in a screenprinted burlap sack for an extra harvest-y feel.
