Melisande + Charles’ Santa Fe Wedding Invitations

Erin Jang Southwestern Wedding Invitations

Last week on Paper Crave, I featured these fantastically awesome American southwest inspired wedding invitations by Erin Jang of The Indigo Bunting, but I had to post about them here, too, because they are just so very unique and wonderful.  Erin designed this suite for Melisande and Charles’ Santa Fe, New Mexico wedding, and she took her inspiration from the shapes and lines found in Navajo rugs and mariachi outfits. The patterns and palette in the invitation are echoed in everything from address labels to reply cards for a look that’s both modern and evocative of the cultural history of the American southwest.

Unique Plantable Letterpress Wedding Invitations

Plantable Letterpress Wedding Invitations

Everything about this plantable letterpress wedding invitation suite, created by A Fine Press and groom/designer Taylor Gorman, is special. Plantable paper always gives invitations, well anything that it’s printed on, actually, such a fantastic look and texture. And it makes for some nice interactivity, too, when the recipients can actually plant the invitations to grow something.

The couple, Taylor and Whitney, wanted invites with a rustic, handmade feel, which led to droolworthy details like stitched antique dictionary page invitation backing, a hand stamped muslin attachment with the couple’s monogram, and a handmade pocket reminiscent of library return card pockets. Both the RSVP card and invitation were printed onto Porridge Papers’ plantable wildflower papers.

Modern Stripe Storybook Wedding Invitations

Primelle Calligraphy Fuchsia on Navy

Primelle Calligraphy Fuchsia on Navy

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: it is a fantastic thing when graphic designers design their own wedding invitations. Hello, custom fuchsia calligraphy by Primele against a navy envelope? Competely awesome. And that’s just the beginning of the eye candy from this wedding invitation suite by Courtney + Brian of Seamless Creative.

One of my favorite details has to be the custom embossed initial bursts, which were used on the cover of the invitation to act as fun, modern seals.

Modern Storybook Stripe Wedding Invitations

The invitation suite features a custom illustrated, five part storybook that Brian and Courtney wrote and designed together to tell the story of their relationship. The final part of the story leads to the actual invitation, along with the info and reply cards, which were printed by Mama’s Sauce.

Camp Bachelorette Postcard Invitations

Camp Bachelorette Postcard Invitations

I am totally crushing on these weekend getaway Camp Bachelorette invitations by Benign Objects. The ready to customize, retro fun postcard invites were born out of a custom client project for a weekend getaway set in the mountains of North Georgia, and I’m looking forward to seeing the results of the original project because the postcard version is so super cool. You can purchase the invitations in increments of twenty from the Benign Objects Etsy shop. They’re available in three colorways, and adjustments for a different setting or theme can be made upon request.

Haley + Peter’s Woodsy 2 Color Wedding Invitations

These modern woodland wedding invitations by designer, Gillian Damborg, show that you can have beautiful, well-designed custom invites even if you’re on a budget. Haley + Peter wanted “something fun” with a woodcut or linocut feel, and because of their limited budget, they went with a beautiful 2 color palette —I just love the interplay of the subdued blue and gray-brown and the unusual size of the invitations. The invitations were offset printed on Curious Metallic cover stock, a shimmery iridescent paper, another fun little detail. You can see additional details of this wedding suite over at FPO and at Gillian’s website.

Chic Damask Wedding Invites by Julia’s Poppies Design

Damask Wedding Invitations

There’s just something about these custom damask wedding invitations by Julia’s Poppies Design that sets them apart from the typical damask invites. The combo of serif and sans-serif fonts, with a retro-ish script face added to the mix, adds a modern whimsy, and the oversized graphic element on the envelope and angled damask pattern on the RSVP give the entire suite a unique look and feel. Baby Sprinkle Invitations

Oh, my goodness! These baby sprinkle invitations by illustrator, Kelli Murray, are so incredibly kawaii that I’m really having to hold myself back from squeeing out loud when I look at them. Kelli designed the invites for her little sister’s baby sprinkle. Did you know that a baby shower for a second baby is called a sprinkle? I didn’t know before I read the post with the adorable invitations. I wonder if there’s a special name for a third baby shower? Anyway, before I get too sidetracked, here are the super cutie patootie, sprinkle and cupcake covered invites!

Roaring 20s Themed Wedding Invitations

Mae Mae Paperie 1920s Themed Wedding Invitations

I can’t stop looking at these wonderful 1920s themed wedding invitations for Michelle + James by Mae Mae Paperie. The high contrast black and white illustrations and typography are so eye-catching, and the light teal and peachy pink highlights add to the jazzy, Art Deco feel.

This suite features some incredible details, including an oversized address stamp (love!), fantastic patterned envelope liners, a wonderfully illustrated save the date card, and a three panel wedding invitation with a tear off RSVP card (a growing trend in invitation design that I’m really digging).

Here’s more from the suite, and you can see more pictures from the wedding over here.
