What happens when two talented wedding photographers make their own wedding invitations? Awesomeness, that’s what! Larissa and Trevor of Ambient Studios in Toronto made their wedding invitation project a do-it-yourself operation, and the result is a unique and oh so clever film canister invitation that actually has its own little pull out tab that recipients pulled to reveal the invitation details. Oliver’s CIA-Themed Birth Announcements

These custom CIA-themed birth announcements, created by designers Lesley and Arlo Guthrie for the new addition to their family, are most definitely in the running for the cutest, most clever birth announcements ev-ar! And they may very well be the only birth announcements I’ll ever see that were inspired by television crime shows.

Lesley, baby Oliver’s mother, was laid up during the last few months of her pregnancy, and she noticed that either CSI or Law & Order was on some TV channel or other at any given time of the day. Since little Oliver was making her so uncomfortable, Lesley got the idea that she should create a criminal file just for him. And what a criminal file it is!

From the “Cute Infant Agency” case file number and emblem on the cover of the announcement case folder to adorable “mugshots” and a juvy report with Oliver’s footprints inside, every little detail of these announcements is criminally cute. Vintage Pram Letterpress Birth Announcements

These custom letterpress birth announcements from the fabulous Lucky Luxe are so beautiful, and I love that the color palette is different from the traditional pink or blue. Such a pretty peachy-coral ink.

These custom announcements were created for Annalee and her husband Chad to celebrate the arrival of little Mary. Annalee loves vintage prams, and I love how Erin from Lucky Luxe incorporated the pram image with the ornate pattern that decorates the top and bottom of the announcement. And the little birdy on the pram is too sweet for words!

A beautiful letterpress initial emblem embellishes the envelopes:

Art Deco + Maple Letterpress Wedding Invitations

Wow. Just … wow. I’ve said it before, but I am loving the trend in Art Deco style invitations, and this letterpress wedding suite by A Fine Press is simply breathtaking. These gorgeous, maple-backed invitations were designed for Jason and Jessica’s Barrington Hill Farm wedding, and every last detail, from the Art Deco emblem that is carried from the invites through the beautiful laser cut maple menus, table numbers, and place cards to the custom coordinating envelopes, is absolutely stunning. The invitation envelopes, embellished with that fantastic emblem, also feature gorgeous calligraphy by Mark of Distinction (see contact info below).

I’m amazed by the level of detail in the laser-cut maple table numbers, menus, and place cards. Look at how perfectly cut the tall, thin Art Deco face is!

Beautiful Blue Patterned Letterpress Wedding Invites

This beautiful blue letterpress wedding suite is a fantastic example of how much impact a one color invitation can have. The suite was designed by Curious & Company and printed by Cleanwash Letterpress, and it features lovely calligraphy by Neither Snow. Bold, modern patterns embellish the pieces in the suite – oh, how I’m loving these patterns – and the rich, blue ink ties the typography, calligraphy, and graphic elements together for a result that is clean, modern, and gorgeous.

Travel-Themed Wedding Invitations for Jennifer + Jonathan

Be still, my beating heart. I spotted these undeniably awesome, travel-themed wedding invitations over at Jolie Jolie, and it was love at first sight. Everything about this suite, from the custom, airmail-style envelopes with direction map interiors to the boarding pass invitations with vintage-inspired stamp graphics, is utterly fantastic. The invites were designed by one of the bride’s bridesmaids, Jenny Pan, who translated the travel theme into such a wonderful invitation suite for Jennifer and Jonathan.

The travel theme was carried through to passport programs (love!) that were handed out at the wedding in custom-stamped cloth bags. Guests were escorted to their airport-named tables at the reception by sweet, luggage tag-style seating cards.

Fall Letterpress Wedding Invitations for Peyton + Logan

Ooh, there are so many gorgeous elements going on this fall wedding invitation suite that I couldn’t help but crush on it. The letterpress suite, printed by Smock Paper, was a custom design by byrd & bleecker in Fort Worth, Texas and features a perfect fall palette of tangerine, saffron, aubergine, and taupe.

One of my favorite elements in this suite is the calligraphy by Crystal Kluge, who worked with byrd & bleecker throughout the invitation design process to create pops of gorgeous calligraphy that are the perfect compliment to the formal face used for the event details and the beautiful lattice-style, faux bois, and fall leaf patterns that embellish the pieces in the suite.

Gracie Lee + Andrew’s Modern NYC Themed Invitations

There was definitely some serendipity at work during the creation of this chic, New York City-inspired wedding invitation suite. We Heart Paper designed these beautiful, modern invites for Gracie Lee and Andrew. Gracie Lee is originally from Georgia and moved to NYC three years ago when Andrew was offered a job there, and he took the opportunity to propose on a romantic hot air balloon ride during a trip back to Georgia to visit Gracie Lee’s family. That is so sweet!

The couple wanted their wedding to be a reflection of their life in New York, and Janie from We Heart Paper designed this sleek, gorgeous black and white NYC-themed suite to incorporate the city skyline and a typographic “NYC” element that includes the couple’s wedding date in an oh so clever way. A New Year’s wedding in New York City sounds like so much fun!

Originally, Gracie Lee wanted to incorporate a hot air balloon element into the invitation design, and when she decided that it might detract from her vision for a clean, modern invite suite, Janie serendipitously discovered bright, colorful hot air balloon stamps for the envelopes. How perfect is that?

First Birthday Party Invitations for Boys and Girls

London, UK based Biplane Press has such adorable letterpress first birthday party invitations for both boys and girls. The invites are designed with rounded corners for a softer feel, and each design features imagery that’s both stylish and fitting for girls (a buzzing bee with sugar sweet berries) or boys (a sweet little plane with vintage mail elements). Invitations can be customized in black ink with your choice of second color and will make a lovely addition to a very special birthday celebration.

Bollywood Meets French Canadian Storybook Invites

These wonderfully clever, guidebook style wedding invites, designed by Blank for Tejal and Christine, are the perfect blend of beauty and fun. “When an Indian boy and a French Canadian girl get married in the Rocky Mountains, there’s a lot that needs to be explained,” and that’s just what Tejal, Christine, and Blank set out to do.

The trilogy of guidebook style booklets are designed to be a marriage of Indian and French Canadian cultures, and each booklet features bold, Indian inspired patterns, infused with Canadian flora. Bollywood style ornamentation also graces each cover, contrasted by a bookish, slab-serif face. And the pages in the booklets are filled with whimsical illustrations that tell the story of the couple’s exciting adventure and educate invited guests about both cultures. Included in the invites are tips for dressing like an onion (layers, layers, layers!), how to boogie down with international flair, and the art of the campfire. – found via Notcot
