Annie & Will’s Vintage-Inspired Letterpress Wedding Invitations

It was crush at first sight when I saw this absolutely gorgeous, custom letterpress wedding invitation suite by Spoon & Sailor for Annie and Will’s June wedding. Beautiful, vintage-inspired ornaments, wonderful typography, and swoon-worthy white calligraphy come together for a look that’s both playful and elegant, and the navy blue and gold color palette, including color coordinated vintage stamps, is pitch perfect.

Here’s what Elana from Spoon & Sailor has to say about this fun project:

Annie & Will are both historians, or at the time grad students en route to becoming historians, and they were looking to create a suite with an undeniably vintage vibe – a fun and whimsical one, rather than a cold or stuffy one. We decided on 1800’s advertising as an inspiration for their wedding ephemera, focusing on a playful mix of typefaces, ornaments, frames, line work, and antique engravings.

We used the lively typography and pop of color to give the invitation a more modern freshness and the witty nature of an rsvp comprised of telegraphs and other outdated modes of communication to really punch up the whimsy! The creation of the suite for this lovely couple was so much fun, and I was thrilled with the bride’s choice of calligrapher (Neither Snow), use of vintage stamps in corresponding colors, and old fashioned twine to fully complete the vision.

Palm Papers Wedding Collection

The new Palm Papers website recently launched, and along with the fab new website design comes a beautiful new collection of wedding invitations and save the dates designed by Palm Papers’ talented founder, Lauren Chism.

When Lauren decided that she wanted to launch a collection, her focus was on two things: great design and the best quality paper and printing. All of the wedding invitations in the collection are printed on cotton paper and are available flat printing, printed with fine art printers, using fade-resistant archival inks that produce crisp details and the most vivid colors, or in letterpress.

Turquoise + Navy Blue Letterpress “Bridge” Invites

I always look forward to seeing what’s new from the talented paper peeps at Postscript Brooklyn / Lion in the Sun, and this customization of their Fulton Street letterpress wedding invitation suite, originally designed by Karen Van Every, immediately caught my eye. The bold, architectural structure and wire supports make for an eye-catching visual, and I love that the wedding details are nestled perfectly inside the “bridge”. The minty turquoise and navy blue color palette is a completely crush-worthy finish to this lovely, modern suite.

Cute Pink Letterpress Birth Announcements

Alex Liebold wanted his daughter’s birth announcement to be cute and appropriately girly but no too frilly, and I think that he hit the nail on the head with this incredibly sweet, pink announcement that features awesome typography – love the swirly, scalloped “ELISE” – a striped, scalloped frame, and fantastic letterpress printing by Rise and Shine Paper. Ooh, and the pink edge painting is pretty darn lovely, too.

Modern Typography Letterpress Wedding Invitations

I love me some great typography, and these bold, typographic letterpress wedding invitations by Jupiter and Juno instantly caught my eye. The Meredith Invitation Suite is clean, modern, and a fantastic choice for couples looking for invitations with big visual impact and not a hint of frill. National Stationery Show 2012 : Two Paperdolls

Two Paperdolls unveiled a spectacular new collection of letterpress wedding invitations at the show, and you can bet your sweet bippy that I’m crushing on these beautiful suites. To say that I’m enamored with the sleek, clean typography and lovely little details found in these designs would be an understatement. Mmm … beautiful patterned envelope liners and coordinating, letterpressed envelopes, too.

National Stationery Show 2012 : Smock + Bella Figura

It’s hard to believe that it’s already been a week since I returned from every paper lover’s wonderland, the National Stationery Show. Visions of lovely paper goods still dance in my head, and this week I’ll be sharing just a few of the wedding invitation collections that completely caught my eye at the show.

First up are Smock and Bella Figura, sister companies who really know how to create a stunning wedding invitation suite. Their booth was filled with gorgeous, foil-stamped and letterpressed suites in styles that range in style from classic to mid-century inspired to ultra modern.
